Pearl Jam - Faithfull Ale
Belgian Strong Ale
ABV - 7.0%
Released in 2011 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pearl Jam's debut album Ten, Faithfull Ale from Dogfish Head is a beer worthy of a milestone celbration. The Belgian-style ale is delicately hopped and given a fruit forward taste with the addition of currants. Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione says of Faithfull Ale "As an off-centered brewery, we believe in celebrating the breadth of our whole portfolio and we feel an affinity for Pearl Jam a long-player band in a singles-obsessed world." We couldn't agree more, so here's to twenty more years of Dogfish Head and Pearl Jam!

Pelican - Immutable Dusk
ABV - 7.0%
3 Floyds got together with the post-metal quartet Pelican to release not one, but two different beers. The first beer they worked on together called Immutable Dusk, named after a song from Pelican's 2013 album Forever Becoming, was a black IPA which featured a flavor that was "as dark and beguiling as its namesake." Sounds intriguing right? Well, good luck finding this one. Like the majority of the 3 Floyds collaborations, Immutable Dusk was a limited edition beer.

Pelican - The Creeper
ABV - 9.0%
3 Floyds' second collaboration with Pelican was a massive Doppelbock that tipped the scales at 9.0% ABV and was brewed in honor of the tenth anniversary of the Chicago-based post metal quartet. Called The Creeper, named after a track off their 2009 effort What We All Come to Need, the beer is another stunning addition to the collaborative catalogue of 3 Floyds.

Phish - Foam
ABV - 4.6%
One of the more 'exclusive' beers on this list is the Foam Pilsner, brewed in honor of the band Phish and only available at the Phish concerts Festival 8 and Super Ball IX in 2009 and 2011 respectively. Both festivals were expected to draw tens of thousands of people, so it was with that knowledge that Sierra Nevada concocted Foam especially for the events. A light bodied, smooth drinking German-style pilsner, Foam was the go-to beer to quench fans' thirst during Phish's marathon sets. For Festival 8, 150 kegs of Foam were brewed and sent to the festival grounds, with the beer never seeing an official release outside of the concert.
Pig Destroyer - Permanent Funeral
ABV - 10.5%
Arguably the most succesful band/beer collaboration in the 3 Floyds portfolio is Permanent Funeral Pale Ale, brewed with the Virginia-based grindcore band Pig Destroyer. Of all of the music themed collaborations that 3 Floyds has been a part of over the years, Permanent Funeral is the only one to be made a fixture on the year round roster. Its 10.5% ABV and 100 IBU tip the scales for both alcohol content and bitterness, but the beer is consistantly rated as one of the better pale ale's available today. It's best paired with Pig Destroyer's classic album Prowler in the Yard, with the volume cranked up to 11. Enjoy!

Pinata Protest - Red Wit
ABV - 6.0%
Pinata Protest is unlike any band you've heard before. Furious punk rock is blended with the melody and jubilant Tejano stylings which give the band a sound all their own. So when it came time to collaborate on a beer with San Antonio's Freetail Brewing Company, no simple recipe would do. The bands namesake Red Wit has all of the trappings of a traditional witbier, but with some additional kick in the form of ancho chile, lime juice and a dash of salt. The end result being a beer that's as familiar as it is unique. Pinata Protest Red Wit is a spring seasonal beer and is available throughout Texas. Cheers!

Queen - Bohemian Lager
ABV - 4.7%
Nothing brings people together like a good song and good beer. Queen's 1975 hit "Bohemian Rhapsody" may just be the ultimate unifier. You could put that song on in nearly any bar in the world and people would stop what their doing to sing along all the way through the headbanging finale. With this comradarie in mind, Queen released the Bohemian Lager, a smooth-drinking Czech pilsner which is steeped in history of both Czech brewing and Queen's fabeled career. Widely available throughout Europe, Bohemian Lager seems to have made inroads in the US, with distribution opening up for the legendary bands beer.

Reckless Records - Rye'd Da Lightning
ABV - 6.4%
Chicago's Reckless Records has been one of the premier record stores in America for over 20 years. They've also got the distinction of being (likely) the only record store that also has their own beer. Crafted especially for a Reckless sponsored show at Bottom Lounge for Record Store Day 2012, Rye'd Da Lightning was a pretty exclusive beer to get your hands on. Using American 2-row barley, plenty of rye and a nod to one of the most iconic thrash metal albums of all time, 3 Floyds created another limited edition masterpiece that you had to know about before it was gone.

Record Store Day - Beer To Drink Music To
ABV - 9%
Founded in 2007, Record Store Day has become one of the most successful movements in retail history. Every April, independent record stores open their doors to a flood of customers seeking to get their hands on any of the multitude of special releases made especially for RSD. For the celebration in 2016 Dogfish Head was annointed as the 'official' beer of RSD and they responded with the limited offering Beer To Drink Music To, a Belgian-style Tripel that tips the scales at 9% ABV. Although nothing has been announced for Record Store Day in 2017, there's no reason to believe that Dogfish Head won't be a part of it in some fashion.

Robert Johnson - Hellhound on my Ale
ABV - 10%
Released in 2011 to celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of the legendary Delta blues musician Robert Johnson, Hellhound on my Ale has become one of the most respected and sought out music-related beers on this list. The Imperial IPA logs an impressive 10.0% ABV and an IBU rating of 100 to really round out the centennial celebration. As they did with the Miles Davis inspired beer, Dogfish Head work in close partnership with Sony Legacy to ensure the beer would meet the approval of Johnson's estate and fans. No telling if Johnson was ever able to shake the hellhound on his trail, but with the help of his namesake beer we can all try to shake ours.
